Defending champions Bea Mountain soundly beat Invincible Eleven (IE) 4-2 as match day one kicked-off in the Orange-sponsored Liberia Football Association (LFA) second division league on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers took the lead after two minutes through Daniel Paye at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia.
Michael Smith and Lassana Sesay increased the tally in the 10th and 14th minutes respectively.
But Robert Jackson reduced the deficit in the 17th minute only for Paye to complete his brace in the 26th minute.
Rufus Sackie scored in the 76th minute as IE were condemned but coach Mustapha Kennedy took responsibility for the defeat.
“I am a coach, who doesn’t like to blame anyone for my defeat. All I can say is that Bea Mountain were the lucky side today.
“We conceded cheap goals in the first half and missed a lot of
chances in the second half but we will come back stronger than today,” Kennedy said.
Rejuvenated Junior Professionals were held to a 1-1 draw by Freeport FC in game two at the ATS.
Daniel Alieu gave Junior Pros a 23 minute lead but Jonathan Eke rescued a point in the 76th minute.
At the Blue Field in Monrovia, Tony FC beat Pags FC 2-1 in the first game.
Goveren Jallah and Emmanuel Kahond raced Tony into a two-goal lead in the 50th and 52nd minutes while Mark Karley pulled one back in the 75th minute.
Barrack Young Controllers-II (BYC) were forced to a 1-1 draw by Nimba County’s Heaven Eleven FC in the second game.
William Seigeh gave the home fans a 25 minute celebration but Augustine Deyugar secured a point in the 90th minute.
A brace from Michael Paye was enough for Nimba Kwado to condemn Jai FC to a 2-0 defeat in Sanniquellie.
Mighty Barrolle came from two goals down to beat Samaria FC 3-2 in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
Robert Coleman silenced the home fans with an eight minute opener and Melvin Willie made it two in the 46th minute.
But Barrolle staged a dramatic come back with three goals within 12 minutes.
There was a brace for Theophilus Davis and Dahnjudu Sawamah atoned for a first half missed penalty to score the winner in the 77th minute.
In Margibi County, Mighty Blue Angels beat Srimex FC, formerly ELWA United, 2-0 in Kakata.
Daniel Tuazama and Carter Barkolleh were the scorers but they were reduced to 10 men when Togar Goffah was sent off within four minutes for two bookable offenses.
The drama of the day was in Unification Town when Bristol FC and Muscat FC drew 3-3 with two hat-tricks, five penalties and two red cards.
Bristol’s Abraham Kamara and Muscat’s Mark Yallah earned a piece of history with three penalties for Kamara while Yallah converted two penalties.
Aloysius Davies of Bristol was booked for the second time after
35 minutes while Konah Gbolor, who was the first to enter center referee Tarweh Carter’s book in the 16th minute, saw red in the 88th minute.
In total, Carter dished out seven yellow cards and two red cards.
Gardnersville got a bye to match day two due to the odd number of teams.
